Hook Your Spring Savings: $100 Off with Marks Guide Service
The old-timers at the Port Aransas jetties often say that "the fish don't bite when the wind is from the East." In many places, that might be a warning to stay home. But here in the Fishing Capital of Texas, we know better. While the wind might shift, the fish in our bays are always hungry—you just need a guide who knows which side of the island they’re hiding on.
At Marks Guide Service, we’ve spent decades learning the secrets of these waters. Now, we’re making it easier for you to see for yourself.
The Spring Special: $100 Off Your Booking
Plan your getaway during the prime spring transition. Book any trip between February 12 and March 22, 2026, and we’ll take $100 off the total price. Whether you’re a local pro or bringing the family for their first cast, there’s no better time to get on the water.
Myth vs. Reality: The "Winter Slump"
There’s a common myth that fishing in Port Aransas "shuts down" during the late winter and early spring. People think you have to wait for the sweltering heat of July to find the big ones.
The Reality? This is actually one of the most productive times of the year for some of Texas’s most iconic species:
- The Sheepshead "Convict" Run: From February through April, these "convict fish" (named for their stripes and their ability to steal bait) stack up thick along the jetties and pilings.
- Monster Black Drum: Late February marks the start of the "big drum run." If you’re looking for a heavy-hitter that will test your strength, this is your season.
- The Redfish & Trout Surge: As the flats of Redfish Bay and Lighthouse Lakes begin to warm, Speckled Trout and Redfish become incredibly active, aggressively feeding on the first pushes of spring bait.
Why Fish with Captain Mark?

"Captain Mark is a Speckled Trout expert... he has been catching so many 18-19 inch trout that by the end of the trip he’s throwing 'em back!" — Recent Guest Review
